The Alfa Fellowship Program is a distinguished international initiative that each year offers up to 18 accomplished young Americans, Britons, and Germans the opportunity to complete a high-level professional development program in Russia. Over the course of the program, Fellows complete work placements at leading institutions, attend professional seminars, and receive intensive language training. Key goals of the Alfa Fellowship Program are to expand networks of American, British, German, and Russian professionals, develop greater intercultural understanding, and advance U.S.-Russian, U.K.-Russian, and German-Russian relations.

Areas of Interest

Fellowship is offered in the fields of business, economics, journalism, law, public policy and related areas.

Benefits

The Fellowship provides a monthly stipend, accommodation, insurance, all program-related travel costs, language training in Russia, and private tutoring in the U.S., U.K., or Germany.

Eligibility Criteria

  • S. or U.K. citizen
  • 25–35 years old at the application deadline
  • Russian proficiency is preferred; qualified candidates with fluency in another second language may be considered
  • Graduate degree or equivalent training in business, economics, journalism, law, public policy, or a related field
  • At least two years of relevant work experience; candidates without a graduate degree must demonstrate extensive and equivalent professional experience in their field, approximately six years, in order to qualify for the Alfa Fellowship Program.
  • Please note that British and German citizens are also eligible for the Alfa Fellowship Program.

How to Apply

An Event of Networking and Discussion-Cultural Vistas will also be offered on July 16, 2015 in Washington, DC where the discussion will be held on the impact of international professional development fellowships. The participants will learn about the opportunities afforded to individuals through these programs and network with like-minded professionals.
