Applications are invited for the PRX Global Story Project made by the Open Society Foundations. The Public Radio Exchange (PRX) is looking for audio-only works about subjects, stories, and issues outside of the United States that inform, enlighten, and connect U.S. listeners to the rest of the world.
PRX will accept applications:
- To complete original works
- To reversion or update prior works or archival material
- To adapt and complete works based on other media that could work as audio productions
This is a competitive process for a limited amount of funding that will go to multiple projects. PRX will assemble a small panel of internal and external judges to evaluate proposals and then make selections based on:
- Audio and content quality
- Conformity to the project goals
- Likelihood of broadcast by US stations
- Originality and interest
All final productions must be in English for U.S. audiences and conform to U.S. professional broadcast standards (technical, legal, and appropriate language). The candidate does not need to be a PRX account holder to apply to the Global Story Project. However, producers of the selected and funded productions must set up PRX accounts. The selected and funded productions will be posted by the applicant to PRX.org and made available to broadcast stations through PRX.org (preferably by Dec. 31, 2012).
The selected and funded productions, when completed, will be owned by the producer and cleared for non-exclusive broadcast licensing, open streaming, and sharing on PRX.org for two full years (24 months) after posting to PRX.org.
An individual/organization can submit more than one proposal to the Global Story Project. Please submit a separate application for each proposed project.
Deadline for submissions is MONDAY Oct 15, 2012 at Midnight Eastern (U.S.)
