The National Drug Law Enforcement Research Fund was established by the Ministerial Council on Drug Strategy (MCDS) on 10 June 1999 and commenced operations in August 1999. This Fund incorporates both the National Drug Crime Prevention Fund (NDCPF) and the National Community Based Approach to Drug Law Enforcement (NCBADLE).
The Fund functions within the broader context provided by the National Drug Strategic Framework. The Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing funds the NDLERF as part of its commitment to the National Drug Strategy. The 2012 round of the National Drug Law Enforcement Research Funds is now open.
The NDLERF Board of Management invites applications from researchers for quality projects which:
- Advance our understanding of the operation of licit and illicit substance markets, including interactions between the markets surrounding various substances;
- Describe the specific nature, extent and impact of substance abuse on the community and policing;
- Consider the effect of interventions and strategies put in place to counteract the impact of substance misuse;
- Assist in the development of innovative technologies and /or tools, techniques or methods which will enhance the sector’s response to drug law enforcement.
NDLERF research grants require an application to be completed using the application form, as well as other materials/documentation that must be submitted via PDF attachment. Applications received after 24 August 2012 closing date will not be considered.
