Heinrich Boll Foundation is accepting applications from journalists of the United States in any medium for the 2016 Climate Media Fellowship. The major aim of the fellowships is to create opportunities for American journalists to research and report stories from Europe about European approaches to energy and climate policy that would inform policy debates in the United States.
The fellowships cover travel, accommodation and an honorarium for the fellow’s work.
The fellows can choose their own thematic focus in the field of energy and climate policy. Fields preferred are – the development of renewable energy production, the economics behind a sustainable clean energy transition, how Europe is preparing for the impacts of climate change, or other aspects of green economy in Europe that are of particular interest or relevance to their audiences.
Who can apply
- The Transatlantic Climate Media Fellowship is open to media journalists and bloggers from the United States who are eager to learn and report about the European energy transition in the U.S.
- The Fellow must ensure that the subsequent reports, articles and blogs resulting from their research will be published by media outlets in the United States.
What the fellowship offer
- The Heinrich Böll Foundation will support the Transatlantic Climate Media Fellow in setting up adequate meeting schedules in Europe. The Foundation will also cover all travel logistics (for a week of research) as well as a stipend.
- Transatlantic Climate Media Fellows may choose their own field of research within the energy and climate realm and decide on the time of their research trip between March and November 2016.
