The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad announces an open competition for a cooperative agreement to establish a University Partnership between an accredited, four-year U.S. college or university and the University of Karachi. The University Partnership must be in Islamic Culture and Civilization with a focus on modern and contemporary issues to include comparative religion, economics, sociology and political thought. This RFP does not cover courses or curriculum that advocate or teach a specific religion. Such activities are not allowed under this or other United States government programs. Proposals should describe how the activities and materials developed at the University of Karachi can be replicated and used at other universities in Pakistan. Accredited U.S. four-year colleges and universities meeting the provisions may submit proposals to pursue institutional or departmental objectives in partnership with the University of Karachi. Objectives detailed as priorities for the University of Karachi include the development and implementation of faculty and student exchange programs; academic collaboration including: curriculum development, long distance teaching via internet/DVC, exchange of resource materials and publications of mutual interest, collaborative research, professional development for faculty and other collaborative programs.
Eligibility-
Eligibility for U.S. institutions is limited to not-for-profit organizations subject to 501 (c) (3) of the tax code. The lead institution and funding recipient in the project must be an accredited four-year U.S college or university.
