All eligible applicants are invited to submit applications for Frederick Douglass Institute Fellowship Program offered under University of Rochester. The goal of this program is to further undergraduate and graduate education, faculty research, and intellectual exchange within the University community. FDI sponsors two residential fellowships annually to help support that mission.
The Postdoctoral Fellowship is awarded to scholars who hold a Ph.D. degree in a field that contributes to African and African-American Studies. It carries an annual stipend of $40,000 and a $3,000 fund for research-related activities.
Eligibility & Criteria-
- The Postdoctoral Fellowship is awarded to scholars who hold a PhD. degree in a field that contributes to African and African-American Studies.
- The Predoctoral Fellowship is awarded to a graduate student at any university whose degree contributes to the scholarship in the field of African and African-American Studies.
- The Fellow will also gain valuable experience through work with the Institute’s director in organizing colloquia, lectures, and other events.
