Applications are invited from American academics and professionals under the Fulbright Fellowship program offering them an opportunity for three- to 9-month grant in Russia and visit that country’s Universities during the academic year 2012-13.
The Fulbright Program allows American scholars to propose grants for lecturing, lecturing/research, or research. Placements may be requested for virtually any academic entity in the country.
Up to 25 awards for teaching, teaching/research and research are available. Up to six additional awards will be offered for the community college administrators two-week seminar. The National University of Science and Technology in Moscow will host the newly announced Distinguished Chair in Energy Conservation.
The program is open both to academics and professionals. The academic year in Russia consists of two semesters, generally beginning the first week of September and the first week of February. Affiliations are available at a wide range of Russian academic institutions, but grantees are particularly encouraged to consider placement in the regions where American scholars and teachers will typically find a more supportive, enthusiastic reception (i.e. not Moscow or St. Petersburg). Recent successful affiliations have been at institutions in Irkutsk, Izhevsk, Kaliningrad, Kazan, Novosibirsk, Petrozavodsk, Pskov, Rostov-on-the-Don, Tomsk, Tula, Vladivostok, Vologda, Volgograd, Voronezh, Ulan Ude, Yekaterinburg and Yoshkar-Ola, among others. Staff at the Moscow Fulbright Office will do everything possible to facilitate placement requests based on prior academic contacts, if available, between grantees and proposed host institutions. However, final placements will be determined by the Office. Grantees traveling with children have successfully enrolled their children at a variety of English and Russian language schools, depending upon their needs. Information on current activities and grantees can be found at www.fulbright.ru. All grantees are required to enter Russia on a U.S. passport with a Russian visa.
Deadline for submitting the application is August 1, 2011
