Applications are invited from American scholars and professionals under the Fulbright-Nehru Fellowship program offering them an opportunity for four- to 9-month grant in India and visit Indian Universities and Institutes during the academic year 2012-13.
U.S. scholars and professionals in all academic fields are encouraged to apply.
India has the largest U.S. Fulbright Scholar Program in the world with over 80 U.S. scholar awards for the 2012-13 academic year. Approximately 20 full-maintenance teaching awards; 20 research awards; 20 teaching/research awards; 10 environmental leadership awards; two distinguished chair awards; two medical sciences, communications and information technology awards; and 10 higher education administrators seminar grants.
Fields of Study:
Preferred subjects are: agricultural sciences, economics, education, environmental studies, international relations, management and leadership development, communication, public administration, public health, science and technology, study of India with focus on contemporary issues; and study of the United States. For study of India or the study of the United States (American Studies) the areas could include: language and literature, history, government, economics, society and culture, religion, and film studies.
Applications are welcome from all qualified applicants; those with more experience and higher rank will be considered, as well as those in earlier stages in their careers. Senior scholars may wish to consider a Distinguished Chair award. Academics and professionals in the broadly-defined field of environmental studies may wish to consider the Environmental Leadership award.
Eligibility:
Only U.S. citizens are eligible to apply for a grant through the core U.S. Fulbright Scholar Program. Although the Fulbright Scholar Program is open to both academics and professionals, approximately 80 percent of available awards require a Ph.D. or terminal degree. If you are a recent college graduate, or graduate student or doctoral candidate with limited professional experience, you can look for the Fulbright Student Program.
