The Office of Citizen Exchanges of the Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs (ECA) is currently inviting applicants for its FY 2016 Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program to provide scholarships for approximately 900 high school students (ages 15- 18.5 at the start of the program) from eligible countries with significant Muslim populations to spend an academic year or a semester in the United States.
Goals
- Promote better understanding by youth from the United States and selected countries about host society, people, institutions, values, and culture
- Foster lasting personal and professional ties
- Advance mutual understanding, respect for diversity, leadership skills, and understanding of civil society during the exchange experience and beyond
- Enhance understanding of other countries and cultures and increase accurate understanding of American values in communities abroad
Funding information
The grant of the award is up to $26,250,000 approximately.
Eligibility Criteria
Applications may be submitted by U.S. public and private nonprofit organizations meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 USC 501(c)(3).
