Deadline: July 15, 2012
YSA (Youth Service America) and State Farm support around 100 Global Youth Service Day Lead Agencies for GYSD 2013, organized from April 26 to 28, 2013. These lead Agencies are local, regional, or statewide organizations throughout the United States, the Canadian provinces of Alberta, Ontario, or New Brunswick which increase the scale, visibility and impact of Global Youth Service Day by leading GYSD in their city, region or state.
In the process of planning and preparing for Global Youth Service Day, participating organizations will build, strengthen and expand their own youth volunteer programs.
Lead Agencies assemble a coalition of around 10 partner organizations which collectively engage at least 600 youth volunteers in service on during the program period, engage local media and elected officials, and plan a high profile signature project or celebration of service.
GYSD Lead Agencies will receive a $2,000 grant offered by State Farm to supplement some of the program costs, a travel stipend to attend the Youth Service Institute and ongoing training and technical assistance from YSA. Past GYSD Lead Agencies have leveraged their position to strengthen their youth programs, form innovative partnerships, expand their volunteer base, garner media attention, gain support from local public officials and secure additional funding.
