The Graduate School of the University of Vaasa offers Post Graduate grants to support their internationalization and mobility.
The grant is anticipated for researcher visits lasting more than 5 days to a university or a research organization abroad. The major objective of the grant is to cover the PG student’s travel expenses, specifically travel tickets and accommodation. In their application, PG students should indicate, among other things, how the visit will benefit their doctoral thesis project, why they have chosen to visit a particular target organization and give a cost estimate for the visit. The application form also needs to be recommended and signed by the student’s doctoral thesis supervisor.
When granting a scholarship, the level of success of the PG student (number of study points, publications and progress of the research work) is the main focus of consideration. Attention is also paid to the reasons given for the visit as well as the choice of target organization (e.g. the status of the target organization, the compatibility of its research to the PG student’s own project, possible letter of invitation/acceptance of host responsibilities).
The maximum grant possible is 1.500 €. The amount is calculated in relation to the travel budget. If the costs of the visit exceed 1.500 €, the PG student is responsible for the remaining amount. The grant will be paid out according to actual costs. Decisions about the grants are taken by the Head of the Graduate School in the meeting of the management group of the Graduate School, on proposition from the University Services.
The deadline for applications is 15th August, 2012
