The Harlech Scholars’ Trust is accepting applications for graduate scholarships program in the field of arts and sciences. The duration of the scholarship is one academic year and it is not renewable
Benefits-
The Harlech Scholarship provides an assured place at New College, Oxford, for which a separate application for admission is not necessary. The scholarship covers tuition and fees for the course of study at New College as well as the cost of round-trip air travel between Boston and the United Kingdom. In addition, the scholarship provides a stipend for living expenses. The stipend for the Harvard student at New College for the 2014-2015 academic year will be at least £12,900. The stipend is paid to the recipient in four (4) equal installments: upon arrival at New College, prior to the Christmas recess, prior to the Easter recess and at the end of the academic year. The recipient is responsible for paying the cost of his/her room at New College.
Documents Required-
- completed application form
- a Statement of Purpose in which you explain your reasons for applying for the scholarship and outline proposed plans for the year (the Statement of Purpose should be typewritten with your name on each page and should not exceed six [6] pages)
- Short answers to each of the following questions-
- Why Oxford University? Is there anything in particular that attracts you to New College?
- In addition to a strong academic record, what would you bring to Oxford?
- What might you take away from an academic year abroad at Oxford?
- a copy of your curriculum vitae
- two (2) letters of recommendation from Harvard faculty members
- an official Harvard transcript
Eligibility & criteria-
Members of the Harvard College Senior Class are eligible to apply for consideration, as are graduate students enrolled in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences who have already completed at least one year of graduate study at Harvard at the time of application. Only unmarried candidates will be considered. Applicants must be citizens of the United States.
