United States Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), National Institute of Justice (NIJ) is inviting applications for Research and Evaluation on Violence Against Women: Teen Dating Violence, Sexual Violence, and Intimate Partner Violence Program for the year 2014. The major objective of this call is to fund high-quality research projects in the areas of teen dating violence, sexual assault, intimate partner violence, custody for cases in which intimate violence is present, and an environmental scan of Family Justice Centers.
Proposals Specification –
- Teen Dating Violence – Proposals that help to understand the context within which teen dating violence (a.k.a. adolescent relationship abuse) occurs (e.g., how or under what conditions teens use abuse and violence in relationships and the association of relationship violence with the dynamic nature of teen relationships), as well as research supporting the effectiveness of policies and programs intended to prevent or respond to adolescent relationship abuse.
- Sexual Violence – Research that explores theoretical and practical aspects of sexual violence.
- Intimate Partner Violence – Research proposals in the area of intimate partner violence.
- Child Custody – (i)Research studies analyzing administrative data to enhance current understanding of decisions made in family court settings regarding custody of minor children. Of specific interest is the identification of prominent factors (risk and protective) of such custody decisions when intimate partner violence among the parents has been documented in either criminal or civil court records; and (ii) research examining various developmental outcomes over time among children who have been involved in custody and visitation cases that involve intimate partner violence. Of particular interest is how the family court system’s responses to intimate partner violence in child custody and visitation cases might relate to children’s outcomes over time.
- Environmental Scan of Family Justice Centers – Proposals to conduct an environmental scan of current Family Justice Centers (FJCs) across the United States.
Eligibility Criteria –
- States (including territories), units of local government (including federally recognized Indian tribal governments as determined by the Secretary of the Interior), nonprofit and for-profit organizations (including tribal nonprofit or for-profit organizations), institutions of higher education (including tribal institutions of higher education), and certain qualified individuals are the eligible parties to apply.
