All eligible applicants are invited for The Gabr Fellowship program offered by Shafik Gabr Foundation and organized by Humanity in Action. The purpose of this fellowship is promote intercultural dialogue and collaboration between Egyptians and Americans. In an increasingly interconnected world, cross-cultural understanding and professional networks are essential for peace and progress.
Designed as high-level introductions to complex topics, the program’s seminars and site visits will be intellectually rigorous and will form the basis for further inquiry. The Gabr Fellows will be required to develop collaborative action projects to address one or more of the issues discussed relating to art, science, media, law or entrepreneurship. By implementing these projects, fellows will build bridges amongst themselves and will make an impact on their societies.
Fellowship covers-
- The Shafik Gabr Foundation covers all costs of participation in the Gabr Fellowship, including flights, hotels, visas and most meals. Participation is free.
- Humanity in Action will make all travel arrangements, including airline and hotel reservations. Fellows will stay together in hotels in all locations. Humanity in Action will assist Fellows in obtaining any visas necessary for participation in the programs.
- Safety is of primary importance to the Gabr Fellowship. On matters of travel and security, the Shafik Gabr Foundation and Humanity in Action will follow the direction of the U.S. State Department and the Government of Egypt.

To apply, submit a resume/CV, two references, a statement of interest and a brief essay describing an action project concept.
Eligibility & Criteria-
- All applicants must be between 24 and 35 years of age. American applicants should not have traveled previously to Egypt. Egyptian applicants should not have previously traveled to the United States.
- The Gabr Fellowship is for emerging leaders in the areas of art, science, media, law and both social and business entrepreneurship. Applicants should have big ideas and a strong interest in transnational dialogue.
- The Shafik Gabr Foundation and Humanity in Action do not discriminate on the basis of race or ethnicity, religion, political party, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical or financial ability.
