Department of Health and Human Services, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA), Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) is seeking applications for Residential Treatment for Pregnant and Postpartum Women (PPW) Grant Program 2014. The program purposes to expand the availability of comprehensive, residential substance abuse treatment, prevention, and recovery support services for pregnant and postpartum women and their minor children, including services for non-residential family members of both the women and children.
Up to 16 awards will be made in the year 2014 with total available budget of $8,384,000. SAMHSA/CSAT will provide post-award support to applicants through technical assistance on administrative, programmatic, and evaluation requirements; data collection, analysis, and interpretation; and development of reports, products, and publications.
Eligibility Criteria –
- Domestic public and private non-profit entities – State and local governments, federally recognized American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) tribes, urban Indian organizations, public or private universities and colleges, and community and faith-based organizations are eligible to apply.
- Current PPW grantees, which received grant awards under TI-11-009, Services Grant Program for Residential Treatment for Pregnant and Postpartum Women, in FY 2011 and FY 2012 are not eligible to apply.
- For the applicant to be eligible, Single State Agency (SSA) for substance abuse must certify that – the applicant has capacity to carry out the program; applicant’s program approach (i.e., the application) is consistent with the policies of the SSA regarding the treatment of substance abuse; and applicant, or any entity through which the applicant will provide required services, meets all applicable local, city, county and state licensure or certification requirements regarding the provision of the services involved. If the applicant provides services in a state or community where licensure, accreditation, or certification is not required, the SSA must attest to that. The letter from the SSA providing these certifications must be included as Attachment 6 or the application will be screened out and will not be considered for an award.
