United Nations Alliance of Civilizations and Google invites applicants to participate in Digital Tools for News gathering and Reporting across Cultures training programme. This training will be held on April 21-22, 2013 at Amman, Jordan. The objective of this training is to empower journalists and bloggers from the MENA region and the US to acquire new knowledge and skills in web, social analytics and data skills in particular Google tools.
This 2-day workshop will be led in English and Arabic by an international team of experts from Google and the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, and hosted by the Jordan Media Institute.
Participants will learn how to use powerful forensic tools to find, extract, and analyze public data, to tell better-informed stories. They will also gain an understanding of how to appropriately converse with their audience using social media tools across cultures and societies, while meeting fellow leaders from various parts of the world in the field of journalism and facilitate cross-cultural exchanges.
Transportation and accommodation will be provided for applicants outside of Jordan. Participants will receive a joint UNAOC/ Google certificate of attendance at the end of the end of the training.
Eligibility & Criteria-
- Applicants from US and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) regions are eligible to apply.
- Applicants must possess a basic knowledge of digital tools/ web journalism/ use of social media. Proficiency in English or Arabic is required.
