The Susan Harwood Training Grant Program provides funds for workers and/or employers to recognize, avoid, abate, and prevent safety and health hazards in their workplaces and provide related assistance.
The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) awards funds to nonprofit organizations to provide training and educational programs for workers and/or employers. Grants are awarded to provide training and education programs for workers and employers on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in the workplace, and to inform workers of their rights and employers of their responsibilities under the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Act.
Eligibility-
- Nonprofit organizations, including qualifying trade associations, labor unions and community-based and faith-based organizations that are not an agency of a state or local government are eligible to apply.
- State or local government supported institutions of higher education are eligible to apply in accordance with 29 CFR Part 95.
- Eligible organizations can apply independently for funding
- For partnerships, each separate organization will be considered a prime grantee, but one organization must be designated as the lead organization for purposes of liaison with DOL and for receiving and disbursing funds
- Applicants other than state or local government supported institutions of higher education will be required to submit evidence of nonprofit status from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
