The Andi Leadership Institute for Young Women is inviting female candidates to participate in pilot program, three-week course in Washington, D.C. The institute aims to equip the next generation of young, female peace builders with the necessary conflict resolution and leadership skills during their formative years, providing them with greater access to peace negotiations and leadership positions in the future.
The Andi Leadership Institute for Young Women’s curriculum will be experiential and interactive, challenging and reflective. Learning techniques will include: projects, experiments, substantive discussions, field trips, and case studies. Participants will learn and be inspired by stories of the role of women in leadership and in peace building processes from around the globe. Participants will learn the importance of developing relationships with each other through trust building and teamwork activities so that they can create a network with one another as they evolve into young adults and leaders in their communities.
Eligibility & Criteria-
- 8 young women, 4 international, 4 domestic
- Applicants must be between 18-22
- Have demonstrated engagement as leaders in working with applicant’s school, faith community, and/or a local organization
- Be interested and enthusiastic to develop relationships with other female delegates throughout the three-week seminar
- Be willing to listen to and understand different perspectives than own
- Be able to understand and communicate in English
