The United States Agency for International Development is offering funding opportunity for Reading Enhancement for Advancing Development (READ) activity in Bangladesh. The goal of this program is to improve Bangladeshi children’s reading skills within their first three years of primary schooling by improving instruction, increasing supplementary reading materials, facilitating community engagement in early grade reading, and equipping Bangladeshi teachers with a standardized reading diagnostic tool.
This activity will support improved early grade reading skills in selected low performing districts in Bangladesh. This will be achieved by focusing on: Increased Use of Evidence-based, interactive Learning Pedagogies in Reading Instruction, Improved Early Grade Reading Assessment, Improved Student Access to and Use of Supplementary Reading Materials, Increased Community Support of Early Grade Literacy, Improved Advocacy and Technical Assistance to Government of Bangladesh Education Sector Program.
USAID/Bangladesh intends to provide approximately $14,000,000 to $15,400,000 in total USAID funding for this activity to be allocated over a four-year period.
Eligibility & Criteria-
Applicants must be non-governmental U.S. and/or non U.S. entities and individuals, otherwise there is no restriction. Entities such as non-profit organizations, profit making concerns, Private Voluntary Organizations (PVOs), Public International Organizations (PIOs), faith-based and community organizations, educational institutions, etc. are eligible to apply.
