School of Historical Studies of the University of Leicester is pleased to offer Full-Time Graduate Teaching Assistantship Grant in Historical Studies.
The Graduate Teaching Assistant is responsible to the Head of School and is expected to undertake teaching-related duties as required within the School, not normally exceeding the equivalent of six/seven contact hours per week during term time. The Graduate Teaching Assistant is also expected to contribute to School research initiatives.
The studentship is open to applicants wishing to pursue doctoral research in any area of history that can be supervised by the School’s academic staff, which includes-
- Early Modern History
- English Local History
- Medical Humanities
- Medieval History
- Modern American History
- Modern British and European History
- Modern International History
- Urban History
Eligibility-
- Applicants must have a first-class or high upper second-class honours degree (or equivalent qualification) in history or a relevant discipline and meet the University’s Standard English language entry requirements. It is expected that applicants will have a relevant Masters degree with merit or distinction or be able to show evidence that they will achieve this before October 2013.
- It is desirable that applicants should have teaching experience/experience in the delivery of field training.
- This post is open to suitable UK/EU and International (i.e., outside the EU) applicants. Please note though that the award covers tuition fees at the UK/EU rate only. International applicants (and those not eligible to pay UK/EU tuition fees) must demonstrate at the time of their application that they can fund the difference in tuition fee rates.
- The post is for full-time study only and applicants must be able to commence their studies in October 2013.
