U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL), Bureau of International Labor Affairs is now offering funding opportunity for African Youth Empowerment and Development Initiative program. This program provides funds to address exploitative child labor among youth by helping them develop marketable skills to secure decent work. Main focus of this program is to target vulnerable youth age 14 through 18, promoting education and vocational training and decent work opportunities for those of appropriate work age. The project will also seek to enhance livelihoods for youth and their households, support civic engagement by youth, and encourage youth to take on leadership roles within their communities. This project is intended to serve as a pilot youth empowerment and development initiative that could be replicated in other African countries.
Eligibility & Criteria-
Any commercial, international, educational, or non-profit organization(s), including any faith-based, community-based, or public international organization(s) capable of successfully building the capacity of local and national governments to reduce the worst forms of labor and carrying out assessments of the labor inspectorate is eligible to apply. Lack of past experience with USDOL cooperative agreements, grants, or contracts does not bar eligibility.
