The European Union in collaboration with Agreenium, the research and higher education consortium, offers Agreen Skills and Agreen Skills+ Postdoctoral Fellowship Program based at Institut National De La Recherche Agronomique [National Institute of Agricultural Research] (INRA). The programs invite young and independent experienced international researchers in the field of life, agriculture, nutrition, and environmental science to apply for fellowship. The major objective of the fellowship program is to increase the research potential in terms of people, equipment and infrastructures at an international level, and better address key global challenges, through the capacity building of individual researchers.
There is no topic guideline. Researchers can propose their own topics, construct the research projects, identify the laboratories they wish to work in and will be assisted by the AgreenSkills management team if needed.
Agreen Skills fellowship period is 12-24 months and Agreen Skills+ fellowship for 12-36 months. The fellows are paid $3500 to $5000 monthly salary to cover their stay and other requirements in France.
Eligibility Criteria –
- AgreenSkills is open to young researchers holding a PhD with less than 7 years of postdoctoral research experience.
- AgreenSkills+ is open to independent researchers holding a PhD with between 7 and 10 years’ postdoctoral research experience. Career breaks are not included.
- Applicant must not have spent more than 12 months in France within the last 3 years immediately prior to the fellowship start date.
- Applicant must be fluent in English or French language.
- Applicant must have at least 1 publication in an inter-disciplinary or specialised peer-reviewed journal; and 1 publication in an inter-disciplinary or specialised peer-reviewed journal per 2 years of post-doctorate period (patents count as publications) taking into account any non-research career breaks. Only the later point counts for AgreenSkills+ fellowship applicant.
- Proposed research project must be relevant to AgreenSkills’ field of interest and complaint with the opinion 24 of the European Group of Ethics in Science and Technologies.
- Application form must be filled in English. Submitted documents must also be in English language.
There are two rounds of calls for fellowship each year. Those who miss Round 1 can begin application process for Round 2.

How to apply?
- Interested eligible candidates must register to AgreenSkills by creating an account.
- Eligible candidates can approach labs within Agreenium member organizations matching their research interests.
- The researcher can submit research proposal after finding the suitable lab that is interested in offering her/him a postdoctoral research position as part of AgreenSkills program.
Agreenium is a consortium of INRA, CIRAD, AgroParisTech Agrocampus, SupAgro, National Veterinary School of Toulouse, AgroSup Dijon and Bordeaux Agro Sciences [also called Agreenium member organizations; the major players in research and superior agronomic and veterinary training in France .
