Catholic Academic Exchange Service [Katholischer Akademischer Auslander-Dienst] (KAAD) is inviting applications from individuals planning Master’s degree or a PhD or who want to do post-doctoral research project at a German University for its Scholarship Program 1. The candidates from developing and emerging countries in Africa (Sub-Sahara), Asia, Latin America, or Near and Middle East (including North Africa) are invited to become the scholars.
Eligibility Criteria –
- Applicant must be from a developing or emerging country in Africa (Ghana, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe and Kenya. Also Uganda and Tanzania), Asia (Bangladesh, Indonesia, Cambodia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and China), the Middle East (Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine/Israel, and Syria) or Latin America (Mexico, Guatemala, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and Brazil).
- Applicant must have a university degree and professional experience from her/his home country.
- Applicant must be a Catholic Christian (or in general belong to a Christian denomination). Candidates from other religions can apply if they are proposed by Catholic partners and can prove their commitment to interreligious dialogue.
- Applicant must possess German language skills before starting the studies (KAAD can provide a language course of max. 6 months in Germany).
KAAD is the scholarship institution of the German Catholic Church for post-graduate students and scientists from (developing) countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Near and Middle East, as well as Eastern and Southeastern Europe. Aim of the institution is to set up (scientific) networks and contribute to holistic development (religious and inter-religious dimensions).
- In Africa – contribute to development of African countries and societies as well as development of qualified individuals.
- In Asia – support key multipliers in selected academic fields and we are guided by the idea of setting up networks.
- In the Near and Middle east – strengthen Christian churches and communities and encouraging inter-religious dialogue as well as the encounter of individuals who are working towards a higher level of social integration.
- In Latin America – contribute to strengthen civic society and to the “Option for the Poor” of Latin American churches.
