British Ecological Society is inviting scientific ecological research from individuals for two kinds of funding opportunities – Small Grants Projects and Large Grants Projects. The main goal of the grant program is to support work of the highest international standard that advances ecological science.
The grant funds new and innovative ecological research, pump priming projects, and helps early career ecologists to establish an independent research career in ecology. The maximum funds under small grant projects are up to £5,000 and for larger research projects that support early career ecologists are up to £20,000.
Eligibility Criteria –
- These grants are given to individuals and only current BES members may apply.
- Applicants are responsible for obtaining all relevant permits and permissions required to undertake the proposed work.
- Applications for projects based outside the UK should demonstrate appropriate liaison with collaborating organizations, local environmental agencies, NGOs and/or communities.
- Individuals who already have full time permanent academic positions in universities or equivalent positions in research institutes may not apply for large grants projects.
- Small grant funding is not available for work that will form part of a degree or thesis.
- The investigator must have a Ph.D. or D.Phil., or have submitted a thesis at the time of application and must demonstrate that the project is distinct from other current research activities for large grant project.
- Individuals can apply for small grants projects 3 times within five (5) years duration and only once a year. Large grants are awarded only once to a person.
