United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific Trust Fund is is calling for project proposals to build and enhance tsunami, disaster and climate preparedness capacities, particularly in end-to-end early warning for coastal hazards.
The objective of the ESCAP Trust Fund for Tsunami, Disaster and Climate Preparedness in Indian Ocean and Southeast Asian Countries is to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to resource mobilization for building and enhancing tsunami, disaster and climate preparedness capacities at various levels in accordance with the needs of the Indian Ocean and Southeast Asian countries.
The 2013-2016 strategy of Trust Fund for Tsunami, Disaster and Climate Preparedness has three main pillars:
- Regional mechanisms
- Special country needs
- Civil society and business sector initiatives
Project Duration
Maximum 18 Months
Eligibile Countries
- Indian Ocean and Southeast Asian Countries: Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Islamic Republic of Iran, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Viet Nam.
- Pacific Island Countries: Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.

- Intergovernmental organizations
- UN agencies, funds and programmes
- Academic institutions
- Non-governmental organizations (not for profit)
