The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) together with the Centre for Geo-Information at Wageningen University (NL) is offering two PhD positions to perform four-year research as part of the coordinated global comparative study on REDD, a research project studying REDD preparation, demonstration activities and national initiatives in selected countries across Asia, Africa and Latin America.
Main focus on-
- Improving emission factors for various forest change processes:
- Integrated monitoring for estimating GHG emissions from forests and agriculture in tropical countries
Eligibility-
Young and motivated researcher with an MSc degree and related experience in forestry, remote sensing, ecology, environmental science, geography and land management or a related field. Strong English skills are fundamental. Knowledge about the REDD process and technical skills to handle spatial data and remote sensing is appreciated. Experience and willingness to work with and in developing tropical countries is important.
