Festival Images is inviting entries for Vevey International Photo Award for which the grant up to CHF 40,000 (around € 33,000) will be awarded. The focus of this competition is to represents a unique form of support for contemporary original works, with a free choice of subject matter and genre.
The visual arts Festival Images is the first open-air photography festival of Switzerland. Every two years, it produces unseen monumental photography exhibitions in the streets of Vevey and also proposes numerous exhibitions in various regional institutions dedicated to the image. The festival is also an opportunity to introduce the winning projects of the two competitions it organizes: the Vevey International Photo Award and the European First Film Award.
Eligibility & Criteria-
- The Vevey International Photo Award 2013/2014 is open to all artists, and professional or student photographers.
- If a candidate wishes to participate uniquely in the Vevey International Photo Award without being presented for the other prizes, it should be clearly indicated in the project outline.
- The submitted project must be fully feasible within14 months from when the competition results are announced.
- Only one project per participant is accepted.
- During this registration, the applicant must submit a short text in English which presents the project and upload 5 images relating to the project or presenting the applicant’s style. If the applicant receives a prize or honours, these images must be copyright free for the communication and promotion of the competition as well as for communication by partners of the said honours uniquely as part of its partnership with the Festival Images.
Documents required-
- 8 to 15 photographic prints of a project which is complete or in progress. The maximum format is A3 (29.7 x 42 cm / 11½ x 16½ inches)-
- The prints must not be framed, glued, or mounted.
- The prints must be of a sufficient quality to give a good idea of the photographer’s style but must not be exhibition prints.
- All printing techniques are accepted (laser, inkjet, etc.)
- 1 document including the title and the description of the proposed project (maximum one letter size page). As it is an international jury, the text must be in English (it is possible to add the French version of the text if the applicant so wishes).
- 1 document including the biography/CV (maximum one letter size page).
- It is possible, if necessary, for better comprehension of the project, to include appendices (additional designs, sketches, cards and documents). A maximum of 3 appendices are acceptable.
- The name and address of the applicant must be on the reverse of all pieces making up the file.
- Files which are incomplete or that do not comply with the regulations will not be considered.
