Grant opportunity has been announced for Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) which provide grants to civil society to safeguard the world’s biodiversity hotspots. The goal of this program is to develop an Ecosystem Profile and included investment strategy for the Cerrado as a guide to future grant making to civil society groups working in the region. The total budget that CEPF will allocate for this award, inclusive of all taxes or indirect costs, is US $300,000.
Conservation outcomes exist at three scales representing-
- the globally threatened species within the region
- the sites that sustain them (the key biodiversity areas, or KBAs)
- the landscapes necessary to maintain the ecological and evolutionary processes upon which those sites depend
Eligibility & Criteria-
CEPF will accept proposals from any qualified organization anywhere in the world, including non-government organizations, private consulting groups, and both public and private universities. Conservation International, via its offices in the United States and elsewhere, including Brazil, is eligible to submit a proposal. Government-owned enterprises or institutions are eligible only if they can establish that the enterprise or institution (i) has a legal personality independent of any government agency or actor; (ii) has the authority to apply for and receive private funds; and (iii) may not assert a claim of sovereign immunity.
