Proposals are accepted for New Horizons for Seniors Program (Pilot) which aims to provide support networks and resources as well as community interventions, and/or projects that address intergenerational learning. The goal of this program is to provide information to assist applicants with the completion of their Application for Funding to Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) styled as Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC).
The duration of agreements may be up to two years, and the funding from ESDC will be between $50,000 and $100,000 total per project.
The program provides funding for projects that encourage seniors to play an important role in their communities by volunteering, participating in and leading community activities. The program also provides funds to help organizations make necessary modifications or repairs to their existing facilities, or to purchase/replace equipment and furnishings to enable programs and activities for seniors.
Objectives-
- promoting volunteerism among seniors and other generations
- engaging seniors in the community through mentoring of others
- supporting social participation and inclusion of seniors
- providing capital assistance for new and existing community projects and/or programs for seniors
- expanding awareness of elder abuse, including financial abuse
Eligibility & Criteria-
- Not-for-profit organizations
- Coalitions, networks and adhoc committees
- For-profit organizations
- Municipal governments
- Research organizations and institutes
- Educational institutions (i.e. universities, colleges, CÉGEPs, school boards/school districts)
- Public health and social services institutions
- Aboriginal organizations (including band councils, tribal councils and self-government entities)
- Provincially/territorially funded institutions are eligible with the agreement of the provincial/territorial government
