BGHS Bielefeld University, Germany is pleased to invite international applicants for Visiting Fellowships for PhD programme. Study areas for this program are historical, sociological, social-anthropological or political science. Fellows receive a computer work station for the duration of their stipend. The grant consists of a EUR 1,200 stipend per month. This amount will be supplemented by a child allowance if applicable. Upon application, travel costs can also be covered by the Graduate School. The aim of this program is to promote international scientific and cultural exchange.
Eligibility & Criteria-
- All international doctoral researchers may apply who are matriculated in a doctoral programme
- German nationals may also apply if their tertiary education has been at foreign universities.
- The visiting fellowships further networking with scientists at the BGHS, therefore no prolonged archival or research trips should take place within this period. To ensure that project fits with the BGHS profile, applicant should take a close look at the areas of research covered by the BGHS.
Documents required-
- Letter of intent with a description of applicant’s interest in research at the BGHS. Please include the areas of research that interest applicants and two professors with whom they would like to build a relationship (400 words max.).
- Curriculum vitae
- Research proposal on a sociological or historical question (2,000 words max.)
- Work schedule and timeframe for applicant’s stay at the BGHS
- Letter of recommendation from supervisor/ advisor at university
