Howard G. Buffett Foundation and University of Wisconsin-Madison are accepting entries from U.S. undergraduate and graduate students in all academic disciplines for Agricultural Innovation Prize 2014. The major purpose of the competition is to encourage cutting-edge technology in agricultural and food systems with desire to connect various sectors and disciplines in an effort to better address the challenges on food, climate and social systems. Students who are interested in transforming global food systems into one that facilitates sufficiency and resilience are strongly encouraged to apply.
Total of 25 teams will be selected for semi-final who will submit a narrative of the business proposal that does not exceed 15 pages, a 200 word abstract of the business plan (that may be made publicly available), and a presentation (in the format of a PDF) not to exceed 20 slides for a 15 minute oral presentation. The finalists will be compensated $1,000 for their travel expenses, including hotel stay in Madison, plane or vehicle travel to Madison, and materials for their poster presentation.
Eligibility Criteria –
- U.S. undergraduate and graduate students across all academic disciplines and from all the countries are eligible.
- The entry must address social and agricultural challenges within food systems to improve the standard of living and quality of life for the world’s population to be eligible for the competition.
- Any accredited school, college, or university’s students enrolled at half time or more may submit an entry to the prize. A team must consist of at least 50% students who are enrolled at half time or more at an accredited US college or university.
