School of Modern Languages is pleased to offer PhD studentship in Italian Studies for the duration of three years at University of Leicester. The studentship is available for full or part-time study and will pay UK/EU tuition fees for three years (pro-rata for part-time study).
Research Areas-
Applicants wishing to pursue a doctoral research project in 19th and 20th Century Italian literature and cultural studies, in particular-
- women’s writing and gender studies
- cinema and theatre studies
- textual/visual culture; photography and literature
- politics and identity
- modernism/avant-garde
- early 20th Century literature and culture; fascism and culture
- postwar and contemporary literature, language and culture; the debate on orality
- space, place, and landscape studies.
Eligibility & Criteria-
- Applicants must have a first-class or high upper second-class honours degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline and meet the University’s standard English language entry requirements. It is expected that applicants will have a relevant Masters degree or be able to show evidence that they will achieve this before October 2013.
- This studentship is open to suitable UK/EU and International (i.e., outside the EU) applicants. Please note though that the award covers tuition fees at the UK/EU rate only. International applicants (and those not eligible to pay UK/EU tuition fees) must demonstrate at the time of their application that they can fund the difference in tuition fee rates.
- The studentship is for full-time or part-time study and applicants must be able to commence their studies in October 2013. Owing to UK visa restrictions, part-time registration is not usually permitted in the case of international applicants.
