World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is inviting entries from individuals around the world for 2014 International Smart Gear Competition. The competition seeks entries that put forward innovative, environmentally friendly ways to reduce the amount of fisheries bycatch.
Prizes –
- Grand Prize – $30,000
- Runners-Up (2) – $10,000 each
- Special Tuna Bycatch Reduction Prize – $7,500
- Special Marine Mammal Bycatch Reduction Prize – $7,500
Eligibility Criteria –
- Entries are accepted from all kinds of people who care about fishing – from gear technologists and fishermen to engineers and chemists.
- Entrant must be at least 18 years old at the time of entry.
- Entrants may work as a team or individually.
- Employees, directors, agents, current contractors, and relatives of employees, directors, or commissioners of World Wildlife Fund, Inc., any WWF National Organization, the Marine Mammal Commission, the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Bumble Bee Foods, Foundation Segre and John West Foods are ineligible to enter the competition.
