The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) of Japan, the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Research Council (AFFRC), in support of the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS), is accepting applications from young agricultural researchers in the developing countries for Japan International Award 2014. The recommendation should be made by a research institute. The primary objective of the award program is to o increase motivation among young researchers contributing to research and development in agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and related industries in developing countries.
The US$5,000 award each will be provided to maximum three young researchers who demonstrate outstanding performance in research and development, and outstanding research achievements that will lead to future technological innovation. The grant award ceremony will be held on November 2014 in Japan.
Eligibility Criteria
- Candidate must be a non-Japanese researcher belonging to a non-Japanese research institute or a non-Japanese university. Candidate must be maximum 40 years old as of 1 January 2014, and must have demonstrated outstanding performance in research and development in agriculture, forestry, fisheries and related industries in developing countries.
- Past applicants can also re-apply if they haven’t received the award in the past.
- Candidates must have demonstrated outstanding achievements in research and development that will lead to future technological innovation for a developing country.
- Candidates must commit to attend the commendation ceremony and deliver a lecture if selected as the winner.
Note: Application must be prepared according to the ‘Instructions in the Preparation of Application Forms’ and submitted by the recommending institute via post and must reach by the deadline.
