Netherlands Fellowship Program is accepting fellowship applications for training on Local Economic Development : Catalyzing Vibrant Rural Economies – Making Markets Work for Local Communities ‘ being held from 29 September to 10 October 2014. Major objective of the fellowship program is to help government and non-government professionals participate in ‘local economic development’ training course which allow them learn about market led economic development and focus on rural economics and the dynamics of local-to-local markets.
Training course Local Economic Development organized by Wageningen UR Center for Development Innovation, the Netherlands, focuses on the changing roles of rural policies and services in sub-Saharan Africa and offers a platform for concerned authorities to accommodate themselves with good understanding of conceptual frameworks to identify development opportunities for rural communities and spin-offs for rural wealth creation; and make them able to appreciate the linkages between poverty and livelihood strategies, the role of agribusiness development and effective services delivery, and the potential of local-to-local markets and value chains to ‘work for the poor’.
NFP Fellowship covers travel, accommodation, tuition fee and insurance.
Eligibility Criteria –
- Wageningen UR Center for Development Innovation training courses are designed for participants with at least a BSc-level (or equal by study or work) and a minimum of three years of relevant working experience. Participants must be fluent in English language.
- Mid-career professionals of government departments, non-governmental and civil society organizations, business associations, development agencies, universities and colleges for higher education, and other professionals working in the domain of market-driven local economic development are eligible to apply.
- To be eligible for NFP Fellowship, applicants must be government or non-government professionals who are the nationals of and work and live in NFP Country (in the regions the training course is accepting applications from) with at least three years experience and is nominated by her/his employer with clear need for training within the context of organization.
Application Procedure –
- Applicants must register for short-course at Center for Development Innovation (CDI).
- Nuffic sends an admission letter with instructions on how to apply for a NFP fellowship at Nuffic once the application for short course is received at CDI.
- Eligible candidates can apply for NFP through Nuffic system, Scholarship Online (SOL).
