Netherlands Fellowship Program (NFP) is accepting applications for Wageningen UR Center for Development Innovation Training Course Organized Farmers as Partners in Agribusiness 2014. The major objective of the fellowship program is to help increase the number along with competencies of skilled staffs in government and non-government organizations working in the sector of and interested in the promotion of farmer-included agribusiness. Professionals from farmer’s organizations, governmental organizations, private sector, civil society organizations, universities, research and extension have the opportunity to apply for the fellowship program. This fellowship includes living cost, tuition fees, visas, travel, insurance and thesis research of fellowship holders as specified in NFP Rules and Regulations.
Training course Organized Farmers as Partners in Agribusiness being conducted from 15th to 26th September 2014 puts forward the economic services that farmers’ organizations can deliver to their members focusing on the collaboration of stakeholder, bringing internal governance up to standards, lobbying and negotiating and improving agricultural development cooperation. The training program aims to make the participants familiar with state-of-the-art thinking about rural innovation, farmer entrepreneurship and farmer-inclusive value chain development. Participants come to know how to review the key challenges farmers face and identify options for collective action, they become able to analyze and find different ways to improve the relation of farmers with sourcing companies, banks and MFI’s, other stake holders. Along with this, learning about farmer professionalization and empowerment, and collective action of farmers business organizations they gain capability on using operational approaches and practical tools to facilitate the improvement of the performance and market engagement of farmers’ organizations. Highly interactive course exposing participants to broad international experience of trainers and other participants makes them able to explore the alternative intervention strategies to support farmers and their organizations.

Eligibility Criteria –
- Government or non-government professionals who are the nationals of and work and live in NFP Country with at least three years experience and is nominated by her/his employer with clear need for training within the context of organization.
- Candidates should have applied for Wageningen UR Center for Development Innovation training course Organized Farmers as Partners in Agribusiness 2014.
