Women’s World Summit Foundation (WWSF) is accepting nominations from around the world for ‘Women’s Creativity in Rural Life’ prize 2014. The prize is an award for successful accomplishment by women demonstrating creativity, courage and even sacrifice to improve life in rural communities. The prize aims to draw international attention to women’s contributions to sustainable development, household food security and peace, as well gain recognition and support for their community work.
Exceptional courage and perseverance in improving rural life; creativity in the approach; preservation of and respect for the environment; continuing impact on the community must be emphasized by the nominee to be selected for the prize. Announcement will be officially made on September and celebration will be held on 15 October 2014 in the countries of recipients.
Eligibility Criteria –
- Nominees should be women and women’s groups currently active in rural life whose efforts have not yet been acknowledged by other awards.
- The nominating organization or individual must have direct experience of the nominee’s work.
- Self-nomination, nomination of family members and senior officer is not accepted.
- One person or organization can make at most 3 (three) nominations per year.
- The nominator must commit to organize an award ceremony if the candidate is selected for the Prize and invite the media.
Nomination Materials –
- Original signed letter of nomination indicating how the nominator knows the nominee and for how long.
- Biographical data on the nominee.
- Two original and signed endorsement letters from organizations or individuals other than the nominator.
- Additional supporting materials such as newspaper articles or publications (if possible).
- A few labeled photographs clearly showing the nominee(s).
