North West Doctoral Training Centre(NWTC) is pleased to offer funding opportunity for PhD and Postgraduate Scholarships for International Students in Social Sciences at University of Manchester in UK.
The North West Doctoral Training Centre (NWDTC) is one of 21 in the UK, created by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), and will provide PhD students with access to quality research training in social science disciplines. A number of studentships will be set aside for these particular areas to help ensure that social sciences continue to contribute to the development of society and the economy.

- Applicant can save and return to their application as many times as they like before submitting, but their application will expire after 28 days of inactivity. University will email applicant to remind them before this happens.
- Documents required usually include-
- Evidence of qualifications (certificates or transcripts) to show that applicants meet, or expect to meet the entry requirements
- Evidence of English language ability, if English is not their first language. (Please note that some English language test results are only valid for two years. Applicant’s English language test report must be valid on the start date of their course),
- Two references–download referee report form (PDF document, 50 KB)
- A research proposal (for research programmes only) – always check the department website for instructions and guidance as requirements vary
- A copy of passport
Eligibility–
- This funding is available to students undertaking the following types of study – Postgraduate taught, Postgraduate research.
- UK Masters degree (or overseas equivalent) at Merit level (60% average in taught component plus 60% minimum in dissertation.
- UK Bachelors degree or overseas equivalent.
- This funding is available to all nationalities.
