Wageningen UR Centre for Development Innovation is seeking applications for Training on Organized farmers as partners in agribusiness. This training program will be conducted in Netherlands from 15 – 26 September 2014. The mission of this program is to support the farmers’ business organizations in their entrepreneurial endeavours. This two week course is aimed at professionals interested in the promotion of farmer-included agribusiness.
Objectives-
- be familiar with state-of-the-art thinking about rural innovation, farmer entrepreneurship and farmer-inclusive value chain development
- know how to review the key challenges farmers face – and identify options for collective action
- be able to analyze farmers relations with sourcing companies, banks and MFI’s, and other stakeholders, and know about options to improve the relations
- be capable to use operational approaches and practical tools for facilitating the improvement of the performance and market engagement of farmers’ organisations
- explore alternative intervention strategies to support farmers and their organisations
Eligibility & Criteria-
- Professionals from farmers organisations, governmental organisations, private sector, civil society organisations, universities, research and extension may apply.
- Courses are designed for participants with at least a BSc-level (or equal) and a minimum of three years of relevant working experience.
