Participants are invited for International Women’s Day March on March 8, 2013 For a Life Free from Violence Against Women and Girls. The fifty-seventh session of the Commission on the Status of Women will held at United Nations Headquarters in New York from 4 to 15 March 2013. The purpose of this challenge is to achieve justice in cases of violence against women; fund programs and services for gender equality and the realization of human rights; decrease military spending, one of the driving forces of violence against women; and protect women human rights defenders, who are at the forefront of defending women’s rights and who face increased levels of gender-based violence globally.
Thematic areas are-
- Elimination and prevention of all forms of violence against women and girls
- The equal sharing of responsibilities between women and men, including care giving in the context of HIV/AIDS
- Key gender equality issues to be reflected in the post-2015 development framework
- Challenges and achievements in the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals for women and girls
Eligibility & Criteria-
Organizations around the world to co-sponsor the march; to carry out their own marches and actions in their own cities and towns and or to carry the messages and slogans from this march in their activities on March 8, 2013 are invited to apply.
