The Penn Program on Democracy, Citizenship, and Constitutionalism (DCC) is inviting applications from Postdoctoral, Graduate and Undergraduate students for three different kinds of fellowships.
- Postdoctoral Fellowships – One year DCC fellow in any discipline whose research is pertinent to the Program’s 2014-2015 theme, “Post-Neoliberal Latin America.” Stipend is $53,800, plus health insurance.
- Graduate Fellowships – Penn graduate students with approved prospectuses for dissertation topics in any discipline relevant to any or all of the program’s three overarching themes, “Democracy, Citizenship, and Constitutionalism.” Dissertations need address only one of the three themes. Tuition and annual stipend during 2014-15 academic year, plus $3500 to support dissertation-related research expenses. Recipients will also be compensated for administrative work done for the Program.
- Undergraduate Research Grants – up to 10 awards for projects to be begun in the summer of 2014 and completed during the 2014-2015 academic year. Students may receive grants of up to $2500 for research expenses.
Eligibility Criteria –
- Postdoctoral fellowship applicants should have received their Ph.D. within five years prior to the time they begin their fellowship at Penn (i.e. May 2009 or later).
- Graduate fellowship is for Penn graduate students with approved prospectuses for dissertation topics in any discipline relevant to any or all of the program’s three overarching themes – Democracy, Citizenship, and Constitutionalism.
- All full-time Penn undergraduate students enrolled in any school who wish to undertake research pertinent to any dimension of democracy, or citizenship, or constitutionalism are eligible to apply for undergraduate fellowship.
Required Documents –
- Postgraduate Fellowship Applicants – Curriculum vitae, Title and Description of Two Undergraduate Course Proposals, Title and Description of Proposed Research Study, three Confidential Letters of Recommendation, Writing Samples, and Cover Letter.
- Graduate Fellowship Applicants – curriculum vitae, a description of their dissertation’s aim, current status, and further research plans, a copy of transcript, and a letter of endorsement from their Dissertation Supervisor.
