Deadline- 10 September 2013
Proposals are accepted for Research for Health in Humanitarian Crises (R2HC) programme which aims to improve health outcomes by strengthening the evidence base for public health interventions in humanitarian crises. The mission of this program is to directly increase the quality and quantity of collaborative research on recognized public health challenges in humanitarian crises, leading to improved health outcomes through cost-effective humanitarian interventions.
Eligibility & Criteria-
- Applications will be developed and submitted by a consortium as appropriate to the research proposal, which could include different types of organisations and (possibly) consultants. Consortia could include a variety of different members (research institutions, operational organisations, governmental organisations, individual experts, local implementing partners etc.).
- The R2HC programme is open to research consortia from low, middle, or higher income countries, and from any part of the world.
- The lead applicant may be a research institution, a non-profit institution or NGO, a UN agency, or a public or government institution (including a military organisation of the state). The lead applicant may not be a profit-seeking enterprise or an individual (though these may form part of the research consortium). The lead applicant must be an organisation that is legally registered in the country in which it is based.
- A principal investigator must be nominated to lead the research. He/she must be able to demonstrate extensive previous experience of managing complex research teams conducting relevant research.
- Research consortia must include both a research institution and an operational humanitarian organisation. This requirement is designed to support the R2HC’s objectives of supporting partnerships between these two fields. Whichever of the two serves as the lead applicant, a statement of support from the other will be required at the Expression of Interest stage.
- Applicants from lower and middle income countries are particularly encouraged to submit Expressions of Interest, forming partnerships with others as necessary. Similarly, applicants from higher income countries are strongly encouraged to seek partners to join their consortium from lower and middle income countries where possible and as relevant to their research proposals.
- For those proposals which progress beyond the Expression of Interest stage, there will be further requirements in terms of due diligence.
