Mongabay.org has announced grant opportunity for Marine Fisheries in Indonesia under Special Reporting Initiative (SRI). Grants of up to US$20,000 will be offered to cover marine fishery management policies in Indonesia.
Topics covered-
- What is the current impact of overfishing and unregulated/illegal fishing?
- What is the real loss to Indonesian society without secure privileged access to fishing grounds (with the current open access)?
- What are the economic losses of poor fisheries management at national level (to communities and GDP, etc.)?
- What is the impact of weak governance and is there a way beyond the current stasis and trends?
- What is the opportunity to influence broader policy and decisions to really advance land use and forest issues and policies/changes?
The author of the top proposal will receive US$15,000 as a stipend and up to US$5,000 for reporting and travel costs. The fellow will have three months for travel and research and three months for writing. He or she can work from anywhere in the world.
