Columbia University, The Journalism School is accepting applications for ‘Spencer Education Journalism Fellowship’ 2014. The main objective of the fellowship program is to support long-form journalism that deepens and enhances the public’s understanding of the American education system.
Fellows will spend an academic year in New York City at the School of Journalism and Columbia’s Teachers College. Students will complete coursework on campus during the fall semester and spend the spring semester working on their individual projects.
Eligibility –
- Journalists, educators and education policy researchers who want to develop a long-form journalism project to advance the understanding of the American education system can apply for the fellowship.
- International journalists whose projects cover the American education system, and that furnish a publication commitment that includes distribution in the United States are eligible to apply.
- There are no academic prerequisites. However, the applicant must have an interest in pursuing academic coursework in support of the project.
- Applicants with a full-time job should provide the school with a letter that approves a leave of absence for the academic year. In turn, the candidate should produce a signed agreement that he or she will rejoin the organization with a finished or nearly finished project.
