Deutsche Welle is accepting blogs and websites submissions in 14 languages for The Bobs 2014. The Bobs is organized to give recognition to hard work done online and offline to promote freedom of expression, human rights and civil society. The winners of the competition will be awarded prizes in the conference to be held from 30 June – 2 July 2014 with the theme ‘From Information to Participation – Challenges for the Media.
The format of submissions can be any but the essence is it must grab and hold the entrant’s attention. Awards will be given to one each from the 14 languages. Besides, there will be other categories too.
Multi-lingual Categories –
- Best Blog
- Best Innovation
- Best Social Activism
- Reporters without Borders Award
- Global Media Forum Award
- Most Creative and Original
The Six main Multi-lingual Categories are Jury and People’s Choice Awards while the Language-specific categories are only People’s Choice Awards. Online voting begins from 2 April and closed on 7 May 2014. Announcement will be made on 7 May and the Award ceremony will take place on 30 June. All the winners will be invited to Germany to receive their prizes as part of Deutsche Welle’s Global Media Forum in Bonn.
Eligibility –
- Blogs, websites and projects submitted must be in one of the 14 languages – Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Turkish and Ukrainian.
- Submitted projects must not be password protected. They must be public.
- Submission can be – youtube channels, facebook pages, blogs, Twitter or other microblogs, or podcasts under any of the 20 categories for competition. The submission must be blog for the ‘Best Blog’ category.
- Entrant can submit their own site or project.
- Websites from the Deutsche Welle or its employees, websites in which jury members are closely and directly involved are not accepted.
