Fujairah Culture and Media Authority (FCMA) is inviting entries from all professional photojournalists (individual over the age of 18 whose occupation as a photographer accounts for more than half of her/his annual income) in the themes News, Environment, Sport, Economy, and Feature for Fujairah International Photojournalism Competition (fipcom) 2014. The competition aims to develop photojournalism in the UAE region, highlight the work of photographers selected by a jury of professionals, but also pay tribute to the outstanding work of journalists who risk their lives to further the democratic ideal defended by photojournalism.
The FIPCOM competition winner will receive a trophy and a 10 000 euro prize. Additional runners-up – one per topic – will receive a Nikon D800 digital SLR camera. Their work will also be displayed in two exhibitions, one in the heart of Paris, the second in the Emirate of Fujairah.
Eligibility –
- All pictures must be shot in 2013.
- Each entrant must submit two (2) different photographs in one (1) or two (2) categories. Entrant competing in the category n°5 entitled ‘Feature’, must submit five (5) photographs in this category n°5, and one (1) photograph in another category.
- Photographs should be formatted as TIFF files measuring at least 3600×2400 pixels / 300 DPI 25Mo.
