Interested applicants are invited for exciting global project – Participatory photography as a tool for social change. This program is organized by World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) in cooperation with Photovoice – a photography charity. For this training proficiency in English will be basic criteria. The objective of this program is to teach and empower girls and young women aged 15-24 to use photography as a way of exploring the state of child and maternal health issues in their communities, and a tool for social change, which will amplify their voices locally and internationally through showcasing their photos in exhibitions. It is an excellent opportunity to be part of the global efforts to save children’s and mothers’ lives and raise awareness in your community and globally.
The training will be conducted at Pax Lodge, London, UK on 13 – 17 May 2013
Following full training and issue-specific preparation on child and maternal health from PhotoVoice and WAGGGS, the volunteers will travel back to their counties and deliver photography courses with groups of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in their country.
Eligibility & Criteria-
- be nominated by MOs interested in delivering this project
- have interest in international development
- be interested in and committed to promotion of children and maternal health
- have interest in photography (prior experience in photography projects is a plus)
- have good interpersonal skills
- have working knowledge of English
- have leadership skills
- be committed to continuous learning
- be able and committed to apply learning upon return to their country
