The Wilson Ornithological Society is inviting applications for five different grant awards the society offers for researchers around the globe.
Categories –
- Louis Agassiz Fuertes Award – $2500 each to two individuals, open to all ornithologist with preference to graduate students and young professionals. Any kind of avian research is eligible.
- George A. Hall/Harold F. Mayfield Award – $1000 to one person, open to independent researchers without access to funds and facilities available at colleges, universities, or governmental agencies, and is restricted to non-professionals, including high school students. Any kind of avian research is eligible.
- Wilson Ornithological Society Research Awards – $1500 each to up to four individuals, open to researches in ornithology (two for researches by masters students).
- Paul A. Steward Awards – $1000 each for up to four individuals, offered to proposals for studies of bird movements (based on banding, radio or satellite telemetry, or similar methods) or an emphasis on economic ornithology.
- Wilson Undergraduate Mentoring Awards – $1000 each for research conducted by a team of an undergraduate student and her/his faculty mentor.
Eligibility Criteria –
- Applicants can be a citizen of any country and any age.
- Membership in the Wilson Ornithological Society is encouraged, but not required except for the Wilson Undergraduate Mentoring Awards, for which the faculty Mentor must be an active member of the Society.
- Generally, any avian research is eligible (except for Stewart and Hall Award), conducted anywhere in the world.
- Individuals are limited to one award per degree program or project.
- Applicants may apply for more than one award. A separate application packet is required for each award.
