Nominations are open to outstanding journalists in Australia, Cambodia, China (including Hong Kong), India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam for ‘Women’s Empowerment (WE) Journalism Awards’ 2014 by Diageo. The purpose of the award function is to inspire and honor journalists who highlight women’s issues in Asia Pacific with the goal of advancing the quality of reporting in this area.
The award celebrates reporting on women’s issues across different media platforms. The award ceremony will be held in Singapore on 7 March 2014. Regional finalists will be offered the opportunity to attend the ceremony where winners will be announced. Total five (5) winners will be announced – Journalist of the Year, Print Story of the Year, Broadcast Story of the Year, Online Story of the Year, and Photograph of the Year. Each WE Journalism Award category winner will receive prizes worth up to US$10,000 and an all-expense paid trip to London to attend the prestigious Trust Women Conference in Dec 2014.
Eligibility Criteria –
- Entrants must reside in one of the 11 Asia-Pacific countries taking part in the Awards – Australia, Cambodia, China (including Hong Kong), India, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
- Submissions must have been published or broadcast between 1 January 2012 and 26 January 2014.
- Entries must feature a women’s empowerment issue relevant to at least one country in the Asia-Pacific region and on a relevant topic such as women’s rights, gender equality, women leaders and education.
- Entrants must be recognized as the main author of their submitted pieces and have all legal rights to use and submit the same.
