World Press Institute Fellowship for journalists around the globe (except for US journalists) is inviting applications for the fellowship program being held from mid-August to mid-October 2014 in the United States. The main purpose of The World Press Fellowship program is to expose the 10 non-US journalists to U.S. journalistic practices and standards through a series of seminars, briefings and visits to newsrooms, large and small.
The program helps enhance skills of journalists and photojournalists from newspapers, newsmagazines, wire services, radio, television and online news organizations and encourage them to contribute in their field of service for press freedom. The fellowship covers meals, hotel accommodations, health insurance (emergency care) and fellowship related travel costs.
Eligibility Criteria –
- Applicant must have at least five years of full-time employment in print, broadcast, or online journalism.
- Applicant must be currently employed as a non US journalist working outside of the US.
- Applicant must have fluency in written and spoken English and potential for leadership.
- Applicant must agree to stay for the entire program and to return to their home countries at the program’s conclusion and also prepare for and participate in all briefings and all other scheduled WPI events.
Documents required to be submitted via online application method are – applicant information; employment history and education; two essays; color photograph; work samples; awards, fellowships and certificates till date; and three letters of recommendation.
